The new Disney Concerts event, running at Teatro EuropAuditorium from 18 to 20 December 2026, features a timeless classic: The Lion King Live in Concert, with music by Hans Zimmer, winner of the Oscar® for Best Original Score for The Lion King. On stage, the Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, conducted by Thiago Tiberio, the Chorus of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, directed by Claudio Marino Moretti, and soloists from BSMT – Bernstein School of Musical Theater.
A special experience in which the Disney animated film, in Italian, is screened on the big screen while its extraordinary score is performed live by a full orchestra and choir. A repertoire that has become part of our collective imagination, thanks in part to the iconic songs by Elton John and Tim Rice and the African vocal and choral arrangements by Lebo M, the GRAMMY®-winning South African composer and producer.
Released in 1994, The Lion King tells the story of Simba, a young lion destined to become king of the savanna. The son of Mufasa, Simba must face his destiny when his uncle Scar, determined to seize the throne, sets in motion a plan to eliminate the rightful heir. Through betrayal, loss, exile and rebirth, Simba embarks on a journey that leads him to find himself again and return to his homeland to reclaim his rightful place. By his side are his inseparable friends Timon and Pumbaa and his childhood friend Nala.
The Lion King Live in Concert thus offers a new way to experience one of the most beloved Disney classics, combining the film’s images with the immersive power of live music.
